AQUA SPORTS ZONE

A host of water sports gathered together in a single location in the northern part of Hvide Sande. The shallow waters of Ringkøbing Fjord - ideal for beginners – combined with the North Sea breakers and good, stable wind conditions make the area remarkably versatile and perfect for: wind, kite and paddle-surfing, water-skiing and wakeboarding, sea & surf kayaking.

For the various water sports disciplines, there are all kinds of beginner and introduction courses, so depending on the wind and weather conditions, you can almost always find an activity on the water – irrespective of whether it involves a sail, a kite, a cable or a kayak.

BEACH VOLLEYBALL

During the summer, you will find three beach volleyball courts on the beach by the south pier in Hvide Sande, as well as one at Aqua Sports Zone. All the courts are free for everyone to use.

ORIENTEERING TRACK

Orienteering is a “treasure hunt” for everyone, irrespective of age. It is an entertaining
and different kind of exercise in the delightful countryside of West Jutland. There are 70 checkpoints spread around the sea and fjord-side of Hvide Sande. Orienteering maps are available from the Hvide Sande Tourist Information Office.

THE WEST COAST TRAIL

From Nymindegab in the south to Søndervig in the north, a 40 km trail runs through the sea-side dunes – ideal for jogging, cycle rides and country rambles. Benches and tables have been set up along the trail so you can enjoy your lunch al fresco.

THE BEACH

It is not exactly common to have your daily walk or run set against a backdrop of salt
spray, ancient bunkers and sea, sea as far as the eye can see! Open to everyone and free of charge. There are all kinds of opportunities – the choice is yours!

FISHING

Hvide Sande Harbour is one of the most active commercial harbours in Denmark, and a fascinating place to visit all year round. Early in the morning, the cutters land their catches by the auction hall, and the daily fish auctions are open to everyone. If you would like to go fishing yourself, you can do so in the waters of the North Sea from the beach, the pier or in the harbour. You can also choose to cast a line in Ringkøbing Fjord. In addition, you can go on a 3, 8, 14 or 20-hour fishing trip on a cutter, or take a tour of the harbour.

GOLF

Holmsland Klit Golf Course is located near Søndervig and features challenging holes that both novices and more experienced golfers will appreciate. There is also a delightful par-3 course that is open to everyone – including people who simply want to find out what playing golf is all about.
